10 Weeks Pregnant

Today I am 10 weeks and 3 days. I have a painful ear ache and feel like I am going to throw up all the time. My back hurts, slightly. I think because I am not sleeping well.

Yesterday, I went in to the OB's office to have my ear checked for an ear infection, which is common during pregnancy. I have the start of an ear infection, but it has not turned into an infection yet. They will check again next week.

I was told to try Flonase to help get some fluid in my ears to move. I had this at home, so I have done two sprays since seeing the OB yesterday. I do not feel any better yet, but she told me it could take a few days to get that fluid moving. If this does not work, she recommended real Sudafed that will have to be bought from the pharmacy.

So, today is Wednesday and if I don't have any relief by Friday I will go over to the pharmacy to pick up some real Sudafed. Monday at my first prenatal appointment, I will have to have my Doctor check my ears to make sure it has not turned into an infection before we can get rid of the fluid.

There was another wonderful thing about going to the Doctor's yesterday. I got to hear Baby Independence's sweet, sweet heartbeat.

She was perfect; the Doctor asked me to please not get more nervous since it is early and hard to find this early. So we would not find it yet. But as soon as she put the Doppler on my stomach there was Baby's heart, strong and fast for Mama. 177 still, I know my baby is a Mama's girl or boy. I know she wants me to be relaxed and happy with this pregnancy. She has given me that show every time we have checked on her.

When I left the Doctor's I drove home past a Wendy's and decided I should get a Frosty. I am crazy for sugar right now. So we ate Frosty's as a last afternoon snack, making me not hungry for dinner yet. So I just had one small taco at 5:30pm.

I have lost 5-7 pounds during these first 10 weeks of pregnancy. What I have been trying to do for years, it only took getting pregnant for the second time to finally get some weight loss. I have no appetite and my ears hurting causes eating to be painful.

I don't think I am showing yet, mostly because of the weight loss making me thinner than I was before getting pregnant. This morning I woke up very bloated though, which is weird because I went to bed hungry, having only eaten a taco for dinner.

I am trying to drink more liquids. Greasier, Spotty Skin - NO. I have such painfully dry skin. My poor face feels like sand. Constipation - I am still drinking the Metamucil to help keep my bowels moving. Yesterday I could go to the bathroom frequently. But this morning I woke up feeling I should go again soon, so I drank a big glass of Metamucil.

Bloating - Not terribly. Granted, I am only wearing pajamas. I am burping today. And my lower tummy hurts very badly.

Fatigue - I feel blah and getting out of bed in the morning is so hard.

Food Cravings & Aversions - Yes, I craved the McRib; it was DISGUSTING! I also got McDonald's fries and a cheeseburger. The only thing that was good was the Coca-Cola.

Noticeable Veins in Breasts and Abdomen - Yes, my breasts are blue little highways right now. They aren't any bigger, but those veins are very prominent. They have not spread into my abdomen yet.

Later in the pregnancy, my hands and feet should start having more prominent veins. Right now my hands and feet keep water so I cannot see my usually visible veins.

Increased Vaginal Discharge - Yes, early this week I had much more mucus-y clear to milky white discharge when I go to the bathroom.

Dizziness & Faintness - I have ever-so-slight faintness and dizziness frequently, more like a lightheaded feeling that feels like I just got off of a spinning ride at the fair.

Round Ligament Pain - I don't know that this is something I will get to experience for some time. It is caused by extra stretching.

Abdominal Pain - Yes, I am having increased gas and pain from gas, I also feel like I might experience those light "period-like" cramps they often describe at this point in pregnancy.

Baby Independence's eyes are reacting to light. She must think Mommy hates light because there are probably not too many times she can actually see any.

I hope that we will soon be able to see our sweet baby's face.

And her little teeth are forming this week, though they won't appear until she's about 6 months old.

Her little bones are forming and she's just getting able to bend her little elbows and soon will bend her knees too.
