It's the last week of the 1st trimester! I am so thrilled. Actually, the last hours now. I have been steadily feeling better, besides headaches which have gotten more frequent since week 11. My energy is slightly higher. The vomiting and nausea came back a few days ago, though. It is uncomfortable, but that was the least annoying symptom I was facing a few weeks ago.
Monday, I had my early glucose one-hour test.
The orange drink tasted delicious and helped with my upset stomach. I had 5 minutes to drink the 8 ounces, which I downed in probably less than a minute since I didn't really enjoy not having my mask on in a public space, even though they brought me to a far corner of the lab to have my space to remove the mask and drink the orange drink.
I passed my test having a value of 129 mg/dL. This is in the normal range of 65 - 140 mg/dL.
Tuesday we got to go to our first Maternal Fetal Medicine appointment, and it was so wonderful! I felt so reassured that everything is going well.
We started the appointment with an Ultrasound and seeing my sweet Baby T was magical to me.
She's a REAL BABY! She's at least 3 inches long now and I was so amazed at how human she is already! She has little feet with toes, hands with fingers, arms, legs, and a face that is skeletonized still. But nothing has ever been so beautiful in my whole life.
They assured me everything was "normal" and set me up in a room to meet with the Doctor.
I LOVE him! He came in, answered all of my questions, and gave me large packets on the medications I am on and how that will affect all 3 trimesters and breastfeeding when T gets here.
We talked about Preeclampsia mostly, because with Crohn's, previously high blood pressure, a BMI of 30, and T being my first pregnancy I have a 10-25% chance of developing preeclampsia but with Aspirin, Calcium + Vitamin D I have lowered my risk of developing preeclampsia. He also assured me we will deal with anything that comes our way when it does. Yes, the only cure for preeclampsia is delivery, but we are doing everything we can to avoid it.
We got all of those results back, and my vitamins are all PERFECT! So I am not really concerned with this anymore either. I have gained little weight yet, maybe about a pound I lost early in the first trimester, but my tummy is getting much bigger and rounder and my sweet girl is perfect! They will start measuring her more closely soon to assure that she is not suffering from Intra-Uterine Growth Restriction.
The last issue we discussed at length was her chances of having a heart defect, I was born with a heart defect, two holes in my heart, both an ASD and a VSD, and my medications raise T's risk of developing an ASD, but now they will look VERY closely at her heart at just 22 weeks and know then, if there are any abnormalities.
T has so many benefits I did not, no one knew that my heart had holes in it until I was 7 months old. After shrinking terribly and being on my deathbed, I then had to have open heart surgery. For T, they can actually repair her heart in-utero.
T's head is half the size of her crown to rump length now. She is looking more like a human baby.
T's tiny bones are taking form in her arms and legs this week as she gets ready to come out and use them to crawl and walk.
T's vocal cords are forming this week too! She's getting ready to be as loud as her Daddy is.
Vaginal Discharge - My vaginal discharge has gotten heavier, whiter and thicker. It is not uncomfortable. This is a woman's body's way of protecting baby and the birth canal from infection. I am so thankful for the constant discharge, it really does not bother me. But if you are a woman who prefers staying dry, you can wear a pantyliner if the leukorrhea is uncomfortable for you.
Sex Drive - I still do not have an increased sex drive. I am quite turned off by the idea of getting intimate. My cervix hurts and it is painful after intercourse. However, we have had intercourse. I feel like constant pressure on my cervix, especially after intercourse or exercise.
Growing Belly - My belly is more rounded and bigger than before but where the baby is, is not really feeling different from before pregnancy. I am just bloated and uncomfortable from all the growing.
Fatigue - My fatigue is much better than before. I am still sleeping roughly half of the day and relaxing the half of the day that I am awake, but I am feeling more energy.
Constipation - I am still having alternating constipation and diarrhea. I feel very backed up.
Prenatal - It is important to keep up taking prenatal vitamins the whole pregnancy and while breastfeeding.
