23 Weeks Pregnant!

Today I am 23 weeks and 1 day!

Baby T is gaining weight quickly and will weigh twice as much by 27 weeks. She is likely about 1.2 lbs. And over a foot.

Baby T's heartbeat is likely audible with just a stethoscope. I sure wish I still had mine from when I was young so I could listen to her without the Doppler.

I do not have a linea nigra, but I am an extremely fair skinned lady. I don't really have skin discolorations anywhere. Only dry patches. I am sure my pale skin will keep me from having any of the dark discolorations that frequently show up during pregnancy.

Relaxation - Finding relaxation techniques during pregnancy comes with countless benefits and thankfully my practice of yoga and meditation was well determined before conceiving Baby T. I can keep those same routines to stay relaxed myself.

Fetal Movement - Baby T is active today. Yesterday she was pretty quiet. But her kicks have definitely continued growing in strength and frequency since I first felt them almost 2 weeks ago now.

Hearty Appetite - Oh yes, over the last week the amount of food I can eat both in a single setting and throughout the day has doubled. I am still sleeping in very late, but this morning I had shrimp Alfredo, Greek yogurt with frozen cherries, a handful of white cheddar Cheez-Its and 4 Oreos for lunch. And it was all delicious. I need to eat some more veggies, but I have pork with brown rice and carrots planned for dinner. I also plan to eat an orange as an afternoon snack and will eat some cut-up veggies for an after dinner snack.

Bleeding Gums - Thankfully, my great dental care has kept swelling gums and bleeding to a minimum. I brush my teeth twice a day and keep floss next to my chair in the evening and floss at least once a day.

Maternity Leave - It actually could not have worked out better I lost my job almost a year ago now. I have so many appointments with my high-risk pregnancy that I would miss a TON of work before my due date even comes.

UTI's - Urinary tract infections are very common in pregnancy. I drink obscene amounts of water every day and also keep cranberry juice on hand to help prevent urinary tract infections. My urine is always clear or very light yellow. I know Baby T and I both need lots of water and it helps with my frequent swelling to keep my body very flushed out with water.

Eating Organic - I don't believe there is a ton of harm in not eating organic, but I still prefer organically grown fruits, vegetables and animal products. We have a very large garden planned this spring and have started the germination process for our seeds. We are currently germinating sweet bell peppers, long sweet peppers, jalapeno peppers, poblano peppers, lavender and Brussel sprouts.

Pilates - I am actually far too weak for Pilates and have enjoyed doing Pilates in the past, for now I am thrilled with my barre and yoga routines so I won't be changing up my exercise regimen soon.

It is 55 degrees outside currently so I plan to do a short little walk after my yoga routine, I would practice yoga outside as well if the ground wasn't so wet and snow covered still.

I am going to try wearing tennis shoes all day to see if that helps my feet feel better today too.

This morning Baby T woke up at 7 am kicking and squirming. She has remained rather active today. I don't know if it is actually that she is more active than she previously has been or if I can just feel more of her movements because she is getting so big and strong.

I want my husband to go for a walk with me again tonight after he finishes work.

Only 1 more day until we get to see Baby T again, I am eager to see if she has already changed positions and is now in the head down position that is desirable. I also can't wait to see how much she has grown in the last month. I wonder if she will look even more like the baby she will come out looking like.

We will get so much information at this HUGE appointment so I will post a blog on the information we learn while getting her fetal ultrasound of Baby T's heart, new patient appointment with the cardiologist, OB follow-up to ultrasound and consultation. My head will swim after these updates, but hopefully all will go well like it has in the past. Baby T should have a strong and perfect heart. And we will have her checked for a cleft lip too.

My anxiety has dropped significantly since last week.

My blood pressure has remained roughly 114/80 so that is doing better and I have gone back to drinking small amounts of caffeine. I am tired so often still so that caffeine is nice. This morning I went back to sleep until 11 am because I kept having nightmares, which shows me I have some anxiety.
