9 Weeks Pregnant with Monochorionic - Diamniotic Twins

Updated: May 20, 2020

This week I am nine weeks along with the twins! I have received a book I ordered "When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets or Quads Proven Pregnancy Guidelines for a Healthy Multiple Pregnancy" by Dr. Barbara Luke, Tamara Eberlein and Dr. Roger B. Newman. I started reading it immediately and am thankful that this large book is a fast read. I am learning a lot about how to care for my body best to help my tiny twins. The book centers around nutrition for having a long pregnancy with less complications to keep from the babies having to stay in NICU for a long time after their arrival into the world. I am taking all the advice in this book in because with my previous health issues, I was warned that I would have small babies born early so whatever I can do to help keep that from happening I am going to try my best.

This week I am feeling a lot of this both physically and emotionally, I am very excited for these babies, I even shared on Facebook and Instagram that we are expecting twins because our one year wedding anniversary is this week.

Twins Size: The twins are now about the size of a green olive, about one inch long already! They are growing so fast! This is the last week they are considered embryos soon to be fetuses. Their tiny muscles are starting to form this week and their tails have disappeared.

Vaginal Discharge: I am having increased discharge that has been tinged a bit darker (just once) than it was in weeks 3-8, I have sent a picture to my obgyn to see if that is still normal or something of concern. I think it is probably normal but I would like to hear from her and give myself that peace of mind.

Nausea: My nausea is slightly less frequent and less harsh than week eight was. I have found that keeping my blood sugar levels even seems to be a huge factor in how often I feel nauseous and being able to eat much more this week has helped me manage that much better.

Gas & Bloating: The bloating has gotten much better this week, I can now feel my uterus on my lower stomach rather than just bloating. Gas has gotten so much worse, I burp every moment of everyday, I also have pregnancy farts at night in my sleep and when I first wake up in the morning. I am not sure if this is because of the growing babies adding more pressure or just hormones.

Sleep: I wake up once or twice a night to go to the bathroom. Falling back asleep afterwards does not take as long as it has been which is nice, but I was up at 5 am twice this week though. Unfortunately I am not getting to sleep as much as I would like but also not as tired as I was the last few weeks.

Fatigue: As I just stated above my exhaustive days seem behind (or ahead) of me at this point. I am not going for runs or anything but I have not had to go back to bed for a few hours everyday this week, the way that I had last week.

Let me know if you have anything you would like to hear about in my next update!
