A few days ago we ordered new curtains for Baby T's bedroom and attached bathroom. We ordered dark purple curtains because they match the room. They have arrived.
The Nursery is the room across the hall from our bedroom, though we doubt she will sleep in it for at least the first year, unless T and I move into that room to let Daddy sleep in our bedroom since he will still work and we will probably wake him up with late night feedings and if T is a crabby or sick baby which could easily be the case. Since every baby in my family has struggled with Colic and my husband had terrible reflux as a baby which is not said to be hereditary, but I worry what we will pass on to her.
We still have my old full size bed in that bedroom and plan to leave it there but move it to the far side of the bedroom.
My sister lived with us for a short period a few years ago and we offered to let her pick the colors of that bedroom because we needed to repaint it, anyway. The builders of our home loved dark colors, and that is the master bedroom that was a dark hunter green on all the walls AND the ceiling. Oof.
So my sister, loving beachy themed and teal picked a pretty, bright teal for 3 walls and a sand color on one wall. And I knew I didn't want to repaint the room when we had our first child because we had a lovely, though bright, unisex color. There were many themes I could go with in the nursery. When I got pregnant with the twins, I wanted to do llamas. But that dream went to heaven with them. They are my llama baby boys and I wanted to do something different for our next pregnancy.
So as soon as I got pregnant with T I wanted to do underwater theme, just underwater wildlife for a boy, and mermaid with pretty fish and wildlife for a girl. T is a girl, so I settled on mermaids with a lot of underwater wildlife.
We also ordered her crib, which is Dream On Me, Synergy 5-in-1 Convertible Crib in Aqua Sky, Greengard Gold Certified. We had picked this crib at the beginning of our pregnancy, knowing it was important to us to have a chemical free crib.
We got the crib mattress that is recommended for this crib.
A lovely best friend of mine spoiled Baby T already, sending us the dream catcher off of our registry that is so pretty, and even more gorgeous in person.
The same friend sent the mermaid milestone blanket I picked out and had on our registry. There were plenty of mermaids for her nursery and baby goodies to choose from when we started making our registry. It is so soft and beautiful; I know T will be so happy laying on it and will probably enjoy cuddling up with the blanket when not taking milestone pictures. Though the blanket came with a weird stain on it, but I am just going to wash it, though I am hesitant because it is a small stain and I don't know if washing it will change the texture of the blanket.
Same friend sent wall decals and 2 beautiful sign's for T's room based on that mermaid theme that I had picked out. She did such a good job picking out this artwork.
She also sent a mermaid growth chart that I can't wait to hang up.
AND another very soft blanket.
She also surprised me with a very cool diaper bag that is pink and grey and has an extension that comes out and you can change the baby's diaper and let them lay there if you have to put them down. This diaper bag is smarter than me, but I love it so much and I think/hope she got a great deal on it! My husband was a little bummed it is pink, which it took having a baby girl to learn that he is not crazy about pink. But I doubt we will leave home too much, especially in the early months.
My mom gave T a llama back from when I wanted to have a llama themed nursery. It is soft and cuddly; I know she will like it and hug it all the time.
I had placed an order through my insurance for a breast pump so I received that, disposable breast pads and freezer bags. It now just has to sit in T's room until I can use it. I am so excited to get to and to try breastfeeding. I wonder a lot what that experience is going to be like; I am prepared for COUNTLESS complications, though. My sister said she got an infection with all 6 of her babies when she was breastfeeding and I am prone to infections so I am sure I will get them repeatedly.
So, currently, T's room sits in wait for her. I am waiting for our snow to disappear to have my husband and our roommate move our old bedframe off of my old full size bed and take it down to our barn or to a donation place.
Once that is moved out, I am going to move my old bed to the corner of the room where I want it and start setting up her room. I think we are actually going to start this process today, which is exciting! We put together her crib and put up the curtains yesterday evening. My husband and roommate are hoping to move the wood bed frame today or tomorrow before we get another snow storm Monday night.
We need to buy her dresser that has a changing table on the top of it. It will be a nice little way to organize her clothes and diapers.
