I have been putting a lot of work into Baby T's nursery this week. I still want to clean the floors with our duo after vacuuming. We have done a lot of projects in her room. I am hoping to get some paint to lift off the linoleum with the duo, otherwise I may have to eat treat the floors.
But the big thing I did was wash all the pre-fold diapers I have received from my Mother-in-law.
I folded them and made homes for them in her dresser. There are 3 different widths and I put a divider in a dresser drawer to separate the narrowest from the next size up. Then the widest pre-folds have their own drawer with the pre-fold covers I have gotten from my mother-in-law as well.
Then my all-star mother-in-law spoiled us all by going to Project Hope and picking up probably all the baby clothes they had from newborn to 2T. Baby T should not even need m18any clothes already. Especially not pants in size 18 months. I first tried separating them by size. But I quickly changed my mind and sorted them by type of clothing. That way I can seamlessly throw the clothing Baby T no longer fits into comfortably into a tote to bring down to our basement to hold for future children. So I currently have smallest on top in each drawer and we will try to fit each item when she is here.
So first I have onesies from newborn to 12 months in one part of a drawer.
A separator and long-sleeve onesies from newborn up to 2T on the other side of the separator, while I am sure we will get many more long sleeve onesies I will put the larger sizes in the closet.
In the same drawer in a different divided area I have sleepers from newborn to 12 months. These I only have a few of yet, so I am sure I will get more and have to move some bigger sizes to the closet as well. I am classifying sleepers as footed pajamas and sleeping bags.
Last quadrant in this drawer is for socks, mittens and headbands.
Next I have a drawer with one sectioned off for shorts from 6 months up to 2T. These are pretty versatile and as long as she can fit into them they should be able to work with many shirts or short dresses. It will just be a long time until we try fitting her into shorts. I only have maybe 5 pairs of shorts for her at this point, so this is subject to change to smaller sizes if we are given gifts.
The next section, dresses.
In front of dresses and shorts we have one piece shorts outfits. We currently have two of those and the size ranges are pretty large.
Lastly, in this drawer we have pants, newborn to 12 months.
In our fifth drawer we have short sleeve T-shirts, no dividers in this drawer because I don't think it is necessary yet. The short sleeve T-shirts start at 6 months size and range up to 2T.
Second, we have long sleeved T-shirts.
And lastly in this drawer we have sweaters and jackets.
We still have one entirely empty drawer I think will hold most of Baby T's diapers and hopefully some swaddles. I know we need many many more diaper inserts and covers before we are set for Baby T. I am still so back and forth on what is best for her. I hate this! I have these pre-folds, which I am hoping to use in covers that don't require additional pinning or fastening.
Each of the drawers is labeled with strips from the label machine my husband and I bought a few weeks ago so I can keep things organised in times of high stress.
The closet is full of clothing that Baby T will take even longer to grow into, of the clothing we have a lot of. Or formal, frilly dresses that need to be hung up.
I have those wooden dividers in there.
I know I will not wash and hang up Baby T's clothing. I am much more likely to fold them quickly and throw them back in the drawers, so that is why I don't have her tiny clothing hanging up yet.
I have taken down our family photos that come from my husbands Grandmother's house.
Those are going in a tub in the basement until we can find a new home for them. They are beautiful family photos that we wanted to save, so we took them and dedicated our spare bedroom to photos of his Grandma and Grandpa. But now that room is Baby T's I want her to have her own space. We are out of spare bedrooms in our house now and though we have a secondary Livingroom in our basement, we use it so infrequently that we don't want to do the work of hanging up those photos yet.
I moved out a nightstand that is falling apart and frequently has small pieces fall off. I don't want Baby T playing with these pieces and putting them in her mouth, or when she is learning to walk, to lean or grab onto the nightstand and have it give out.
We have a room divider in Baby T's room that I want to find a new home for temporarily.
