Well, I think my first cycle has already come and gone. I think my body is now going the opposite in regulating cycles. It has now been about 13 days since my positive ovulation strip. I have been spotting since Saturday, today is Thursday and I am still spotting but it has been bright red the whole time.
I am consistently bleeding. I marked it on my app as a period, but I am not sure what is going on. I have been wearing light pantyliners since Saturday and I have yet to have any blood on them, but almost every time I use the restroom I have bright red blood on the toilet paper. Since Saturday all the way until now, so I don't really know what that means. I had the same spotting for 6 days before one day after I went for a run and had a lot of blood show up, but only during that run, then it went back to spotting the rest of the time. I am thinking it is just going to take my body a little longer than average to regulate my cycle to create a new pregnancy. But we have time, I am relaxing a bit, realizing I have no control over when my body is ready.
I think my body is just trying to catch up after everything it has been through the last year.
This cycle was a great start for me, though. After, 11 weeks of nothing, it was great to have a regular period. The period did only last 3 days, so maybe it wasn't a true cycle yet.
My husband and I started out the month well, trying to keep with regular sex (every other day) but this slowed down as I approached my fertile window. Where we went down to about every 3 days. I didn't have a high sex drive at all this month. So sex felt like a chore to get a baby rather than the magical moments my husband and I usually share. I found the cause of that which I explain in:
Shortly after my fertile window I started having pain in my vagina. I wasn't sure what the cause was, but it wasn't disrupting my normal life, yet. Last week Friday it started interrupting my life, so I decided I should go to the store and buy some anti-itch cream to see if that gave me any relief. I just figured there was some irritation. That after I used a bit of the anti-itch cream, I would feel it calm and then move on with my life as usual.
A friend was concerned that this may not be safe if I conceived this cycle. So I called my OB's office, and they thought it sounded like a yeast infection so the nurse instructed me to get a 7-day treatment as that is the only safe treatment with a pregnancy. I went immediately to get a 7-day yeast infection treatment. I couldn't even wait until night to administer my first treatment by then it had hurt so badly I could not walk. So I did the vaginal suppository and laid down in bed to watch Thirteen Reasons Why Netflix Series since I had just finished the book.
I ended up not doing anything the rest of the day Friday because I was babying my aching vagina. Saturday morning I woke up, and it hurt 3 times worse than Friday so I got up and made breakfast and did some cleaning then laid down and did my next suppository. It continued to just feel worse throughout the day, so I finally had my husband look at my vagina to see if he could tell me what it looked like.
The left side of my labia minora was swollen and had little white bumps and one very hard swollen bump with a white head. I had him take a picture so I could look at it. (Note to self: buy a handheld mirror.) And then started looking up online what that was and how to make it better. I found vaginal boils and many causes of them. But usually it's an infection that has built up under the skin. My labia minora was bleeding, it was so swollen and irritated from not resting earlier. I laid with a wrapped ice pack between my legs, trying to keep the swelling down.
Sunday I woke up, and it was still swollen, but so much better. It no longer hurt. So I decided to continue treating it with the 7-day treatment for yeast infections. As I feel that caused my infection.
Today is Thursday and my last dose of the 7-day treatment, I have some irritation on my vagina still. The little bumps went away, but the big bump is still there and it is hard to the touch. I am not sure if it requires anything further. I have not called the OB again about it, if it gets better over the next couple days that is not necessary.
I have never had anything like this before.
This week my husband I had a sushi date night complete with chopsticks and sitting on the floor.
